Church of God Ministries Sends Disaster Relief to Haiti

The need for disaster relief is expected to be significant. To respond to this immediate need and help alleviate the suffering, Church of God Ministries is coordinating the advancement of $10,000 in Disaster Relief funds. These funds will be provided to Phyllis Newby, national leader of the Haitian Church of God, and to John and Jodie Ackerman, our career missionaries in Haiti, to respond to the immediate needs within the Church of God there.

Rev. Dr. Carl E. Flewellen

Dr. Carl E. Flewellen accepted the call to ministry at 16 at Wayne Avenue Church of God in Columbus, OH where Elder J.C. Wilber was pastor. At the age of 21, Dr. Flewellen served as Associate Pastor of Sigsby Ave. Church of God in Columbus, OH under the pastorate of Elder Edward Bridges.

Dr. Flewellen became a missionary in Bermuda and was pastor of Angle Street Church of God (Bermuda) from 1964-1970. After leaving Bermuda, Dr. Flewellen served as pastor of First Church of God, Evanston, IL (1970-1982). He currently faithfully serves as pastor of Morgan Park Church of God (1983-present). Under his pastorate, both churches experienced numeric and spiritual growth.

Dr. Flewellen received his Master of Divinity degree from Garrett Theological Seminary and Doctorate in Ministry in 2006. He has previously served in many capacities on International and National levels of Church of God ministries, Anderson IN; the state of Illinois ministries (State Chairman); & NACOG (Vice Chairman of General Assembly). Dr. Flewellen currently serves as counselor at Evergreen Park Care and Counseling Center, in the Evergreen Park Mall, lower level and is a mentor to many blooming young pastors and ministers.

Dr. Flewellen is married to Mayme Flewellen for 50 years. He has four children--Rev. Dr. Carol (Pastor Miki) Merritt, Sandra (Min. Chauncey) Hicks, Marvin (Caren) Flewellen and Rev. Libby (Rev. Erwin) Lee, who are all saved and serve the Lord at their places of worship. He has 13 grandchildren.
