CAMF is a fellowship community of Church of God Reformation Movement Pastors and Ministers throughout Northern Illinois and Northern Indiana who fellowship, work, and serve together in order to keep the Unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace so that we can be God’s effective Kingdom Agents in the society.
Statement of Purpose
We, the Chicagoland Area Ministers Fellowship of the Church of God perceive of ourselves as a community of God’s people, a people called to serve Him and called to live together in true Christian community, open and teachable and dedicated to the lordship of Christ and also in responsibility for each other. We are committed to God’s church on mission as being God’s agent for establishing His Kingdom and that it is the primary means by which He is accomplishing His reconciling purpose in the world. This commitment requires a dedication to be a unified community working together in an unselfish holy love, caring and sharing together toward the fulfillment of Christ’s Mission.
Our Affiliation
CAMF is affiliated with the Church of God Reformation Movement in Anderson, Indiana and West Middlesex, Pennsylvania.
NOTE: The following excerpt* from one of our CAMF Church’s website (New Hope Fellowship Church) explains what the Church of God Reformation Movement is and why we exist.
The Church of God
(Anderson, Indiana)
The Church of God, with U.S. offices in Anderson, Indiana, began in 1881 as a movement emphasizing the unity of God’s people and holy living. Daniel S. Warner and several associates sought to forsake denominational hierarchies and formal creeds, trusting solely in the Holy Spirit as their overseer and the Bible as their statement of belief. These individuals saw themselves at the forefront of a movement to restore unity and holiness to the church. Their aim was not to establish another denomination but to promote primary allegiance to Jesus Christ so as to transcend denominational loyalties.
This movement is not historically related to the several Church of God bodies rooted in the holiness revival of Tennessee and the Carolinas in the late nineteenth century. Although it shares their holiness commitment, it does not emphasize the charismatic gift of speaking in tongues generally associated with Pentecostal churches. In 1995, 120 Church of God leaders from across North America gathered for a Visioning Retreat. After much prayer and dialogue, they embraced six vision statements to guide the movement in the twenty-first century.
The Church of God reformation movement exists to:
- Worship the Lord
- Reach the Lost
- Disciple Believers
- Equip for Ministry
- Celebrate Unity
- Live Out the Love of Christ
